There are many reasons why I love this kit. Here is my Project Life review!
1. The Becky Higgins Project Life kit is value for money
You really do get a lot for your money in a Project Life kit.
You get a 12” x 12” three ring album, divided photo pocket pages, journaling cards, monthly bookmarks, a date stamp, cute boxes to store journaling cards and much more.
Everything you need to document an entire year is included.
If you had to pay for each of these items individually you would pay so much more than the cost of a Project Life kit.
I have found my kit to be excellent quality too. The page protectors fit into the album perfectly and they turn really easily. The journaling cards are made out of sturdy cardstock.
The only downside is that the album doesn’t have a spot on the spine to label my album. I love the We R Memory Keepers albums which have a label on the spine so I may transfer the Project Life page protectors over into this one of these albums at the end of the year.
All the journaling cards have beautiful designs and are color coordinated. The album has a lovely design on the front too.
You will love the Project Life kit in turquoise too. If you are looking for a baby boy scrapbook then the Project Life - Turquoise Edition would be perfect.
The Project Life kit by Becky Higgins is beautiful to look at!
3. The Becky Higgins Project Life kit is so easy to do
I love Project Life because I don’t have to put any thought into where I position my photos, where I should position my journaling and also what paper to use.
The divided photo pocket pages make it easy - you just slide your photos and journaling cards into the pre-designed pages.
The journaling cards already have beautiful designs so no need to search for the perfect pretty paper to use either.
Becky Higgins calls it scrapbooking without the “scrapbooking”. So true, because no glue, no techniques or layout design are required.
But, if you would like to add a traditional 12x12 scrapbook page that uses your own creativity it is easy to do that too. Just add your scrapbook page into your Project Life album.
Too easy!
Becky Higgins has provided a YouTube video for how to set up your kit when it arrives. Becky is setting up the Project Life - Turquoise Editionin the video.
Also when you receive your kit you will find inside a page of ideas on how to set up your first and last page.
So there you have it… Project Life really is stress free!
4. Project Life is fast to do too
With Project Life all you have to do is take photos (easy!), choose your photos, print your photos (I upload mine to Snapfish), write some journaling and slot into the page protectors.
I take notes everyday on my computer describing the photo of the day and then once every month I pick the best photos, get our photos printed and write the journaling.
5. Project Life encourages you to keep up with your photos
The best thing about Project Life is that I am keeping up with deleting, editing and printing photos in my photo library as the year progresses.
Going through my photos on a regular basis is now so much more manageable than my old habit of trying to work through a year's worth of photos or more all at once.
6. Project Life gives you a feeling of achievement
I have been trying to work out what to do with my photos for such a long time. It is such a relief to have found a beautiful and easy way to display my photos.
I love seeing our photos printed out (finally!) and sitting in a lovely album to enjoy.
You will definitely feel a real sense of achievement.
7. Project Life is fun
It’s fun to decide what photo to take to represent your day.
It’s also fun to look through your Project Life album with your children.
I also love that we can enjoy our photos as the year progresses rather than at a later date or not at all!
I think we are going to enjoy looking through our album in the years to come and reminisce … and also have a laugh at our old technology – iPads, iPhones etc!
An unexpected bonus has been that I have become more aware of my surroundings and things to be grateful for. Project Life inspires me to become more observant and make the most of each day.
8. You can use Project Life however you like
We have decided to use our Project Life kit to document our family life for 2011. We are taking a picture a day for the year. So far so good.
If taking a picture a day sounds overwhelming, Project Life can be used in so many other ways.
Perhaps you might want to use it to display your favorite photos for every month or perhaps each page might take on a theme such as holidays, trips, birthdays, back to school.
How you use the Project Life kit is entirely up to you.
Our 2011 Project Life album will be ours to keep and I am creating yearly photo books for each of my three children which they can take when they leave home.
In addition to photos of our three children and the things they do, our Project Life album will also include photos and stories about the town we live in, our home, things we love to eat, celebrations, extended family members, bits and pieces about myself and my husband and places we like to go.
Our album will show a real snapshot of our life in 2011.
9. You can add extra pages
I love that it is possible to add extra pages to your Project Life album. The Project Life by Becky Higgins album is a three ring binder album so you can add extra pages very easily.
If you are using Project Life for a 365 project/ Photo a Day project you might find on some days you take lots of photos.
For that day you may want to add another page protector, add in a scrapbook page or photo collage.
The YouTube video provides some Project Life inspiration and this mom explains how she adds extra things into her Project Life album including:
enlarged photos of her children,
digital scrapbook pages, hybrid scrapbook pages and traditional paper scrapbook pages, and
special birthday cards and other special occasion cards.
10. Project Life components are available separately
If you are thinking about using Project Life as a baby album, you may like to consider buying some of the divided photo pockets pages that hold vertical photos as well as using the horizontal photo pocket pages that are provided in the kit.
You can also buy journaling cards that are good for the vertical photo pocket pages.
Some parents have commented they don’t like the horizontal photo pockets that are provided in the Project Life kit because they take a lot of vertical photos of their baby.
Of course, you can also just slip in the vertical photo so that it sits sideways. Also consider adding extra page protectors to showcase special photos that you may want to enlarge.
If you fill up your binder you can also buy separate Becky Higgins Project Life binders as well. Here is the Amber Binderand theTurquoise Binder
