Baby Book Scrapbooking

Baby book scrapbooking is a great option if you are a scrapbooking mom and like the idea of having a personalized baby memory book that includes only information that is relevant to your baby and family.

Even if you are a beginner scrapbooker, this page will help get you started with scrapbooking a baby book for your baby.

Here are some steps to follow when creating a baby book scrapbook.

Baby Book Scrapbook Pages

Consider first which scrapbook pages you would like to include in your baby’s memory book scrapbook.

The great thing about making your own baby book is that you can decide which baby record book topics and questions you would like to include.

For example, perhaps you would like to include a “Family Tree” page but not include a “Baby Shower” page. If you can’t remember when your baby first smiled you can leave that question out. If you want to make your baby’s memory book include the first three years of their life instead of just the first year you can!

Here are some baby scrapbook page ideas and some journaling prompt ideas to help you make a decision on which topics and questions to include in a baby book scrapbook.

Baby Photos and Keepsakes

Next, decide which photos of your baby you would like to include in your baby’s scrapbook. If you are still pregnant or your baby is still young, a list of baby photo ideas for each scrapbooking page layout in your baby’s memory book is handy.

Consider also including baby keepsakes such as your baby’s hospital bracelet and a lock of hair in the baby book scrapbook.

Baby Scrapbooking Album

Next, choose a baby scrapbooking album. Most baby scrapbook albums are created in colors that suit the gender of your baby.

Enjoy choosing from a range of pink baby scrapbooks if you are looking for a baby girl scrapbook album and blue baby scrapbooks if you are looking for a baby boy scrapbooking album. Consider choosing a yellow, green or black scrapbook album if you are looking for a gender neutral scrapbooking album.

When choosing a baby scrapbook album, also consider the size of the scrapbook album, binding style of album and cover design. The archival quality of the scrapbook album is another important consideration.

Some baby scrapbooking kits include baby scrapbook albums in the kit which will save you time and money.

Baby Scrapbook Layouts

Consider how you would like to layout your baby scrapbook pages.

If you need some inspiration Simple Scrapbooks: Make a Baby Scrapbook by Stacy Julian will help with baby book scrapbook page layout ideas if you don’t know where to start.

Baby Scrapbooking Supplies

To create your baby scrapbook pages, there is an extensive range of baby scrapbooking supplies that you can choose from including:

  • baby scrapbook paper
  • baby scrapbooking stickers
  • baby scrapbooking die-cuts and cut-outs
  • buttons
  • rub-ons
  • ribbons
  • tags
  • chipboard
  • decorative banners
  • anchorettes
  • baby shaped brads
  • metal elements
  • baby themed printable items such as e-cuts

Consider buying a baby scrapbooking kit. They will save you time finding coordinated paper and embellishments - some kits also include a baby scrapbooking album with page design instructions.

Now the fun bit! Create the baby book pages, slide into your baby’s scrapbook album and enjoy for many years to come.

Alternatives to Creating a Scrapbook

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the thought of scrapbooking a baby memory book or don't like scrapbooking, consider the following alternatives:

  • create a baby book photobook
  • create a baby book using a combined baby scrapbook/ photo album
  • buy a pre-made baby book scrapbook
  • buy a loose-leaf 12x12 baby memory book

Baby Book Photobook

If you like the idea of being able to make your own baby book, but not interested in scrapbooking, consider making a baby photobook.

If you create a baby book photobook, you can still decide which baby book topics and questions you would like to include in your baby’s memory book but design knowledge, paper, glue and scissors are not required!

Picaboo makes creating a baby photo book very easy as they have a variety of pre-designed pages and gorgeous baby page backgrounds to choose from. Once you have dragged and dropped your baby’s pictures into the page designs and added text you can upload your baby’s finished photobook to Picaboo. Wait for your baby’s book to arrive in the mailbox and enjoy!

You can even order multiple copies of your baby’s photobook and give a copy to baby’s grandparents.

The downside to creating a baby book photobook is that you can’t add pages to your baby’s memory book as they grow – you will need to wait until your baby is one years old before you can print your baby book photobook.

You also won’t be able to include your own handwriting which may be a good or bad thing depending on what you think of your handwriting! You won’t be able to include baby keepsakes in your baby book but you could consider scanning the keepsake such as baby’s birth certificate, or front page of the newspaper on the day baby was born and adding an image.

Combined Baby Scrapbook/Photo Album

If you want to create a baby book that also includes all or most of your baby’s photos in their first year, combined baby scrapbook/photo albums were made just for you!

This type of album gives you the flexibility of scrapping some of your baby’s photos and then inserting the rest of your baby's photos into photo sleeves just like a photo album.

Pre-made Baby Book

If you really love the look of a baby book scrapbook but don’t want to make one, consider purchasing a pre-made baby scrapbook.

Pre-made baby scrapbooks are more expensive than making one yourself but worth it if you have no scrapbook design knowledge, no time or inclination to learn.

All you have to do is to choose your favourite photos of baby and glue them into the baby scrapbook layouts created by someone else. Too easy!

Loose Leaf Baby Scrapbooks

If you don’t want to scrapbook, but still want some flexibility in deciding which baby book pages to include in your baby's memory book, you might be interested in a loose-leaf baby memory book.

Loose-leaf baby memory books give you the freedom to remove baby book pages that aren’t relevant to your family or move the pages around.

Aimee J have gorgeous loose-leaf baby memory books in the 12x12 scrapbook size.

Enjoy baby book scrapbooking!
