ABC Baby Scrapbook or ABC Baby Photo Book

An ABC baby scrapbook or ABC baby photo book is a fun way to organize and present your baby’s first year pictures.

An ABC baby scrapbook is also a great learning tool - your child will soon be recognizing the letters of the alphabet!

If you are new to scrapbooking, an ABC scrapbooking theme is a great baby scrapbook theme to choose. Creating a baby ABC scrapbook is very achievable and relatively stress-free!

Here are some ideas to try if you are a beginner scrapbooker:

• create only one scrapbook page for each letter of the alphabet- 26 pages in total,
• choose one photo of your baby for each page/letter of the alphabet,
• use coordinated baby scrapbook paper and the same layout for each scrapbook page, and
• use a smaller baby scrapbooking album such as a 6x6 or 8x8 baby scrapbooking album.

Layout Ideas

How you layout your baby scrapbook pages will depend on the size of the scrapbook you choose. If you choose a 12x12 baby scrapbook album you will have enough room on each page to dedicate that page to one letter of the alphabet.

For smaller 6x6 or 8x8 baby scrapbook albums, you might consider creating two scrapbook pages for each letter of the alphabet. Include the letter of the alphabet and some jounaling on the left page and a photo of your baby on the right page. Note that you may need to crop 4x6 baby photos if you choose to use a 6x6 baby scrapbooking album.

Don’t like scrapbooking?

If scrapbooking isn’t your thing, consider creating an ABC baby photo book. Photobooks are great because once you have decided on the baby photos you want to use, you choose the photo book size and drag and drop the photos into pre-designed page layouts or templates. How to create an ABC Baby Scrapbook/ Photo book

You can create this type of baby scrapbook or photobook in a couple of ways depending on the age of your child.

If your baby is now a toddler or older, first look through the collection of photos you have of your baby. Decide which photos you would like to include in your baby’s ABC scrapbook and then choose words that best describe that photo.

For example, you might have a cute photo of your baby in the bath. You could put your baby’s photo on the B page with a title “Bath Time” or “Bubbles”, or on the T page with a title “Tub Time” or on the W page with a title “Water Baby”.

If your baby is a newborn or not yet born, you might like to choose the word or words you want to use in your baby's ABC scrapbook and then take photos to fit those words.

Deciding on words to use?

When deciding on the word(s) that will correspond to each letter of the alphabet in your baby’s ABC scrapbook or photobook here are some ideas.

Use words that describe:

• your baby (adjectives) eg. adorable, cute, handsome, happy, loved etc
• what your baby is doing in a photo (verbs) eg. smiling, crawling, swimming, feeding the ducks etc
• who your baby is with in a photo eg. Uncle, Sister, Mom, Dad, Santa, Dog or specific name of family member, friend or pet
• what your baby is playing with or looking at eg. mobile, baby blocks etc
• what your baby is wearing or is using eg. booties, onesie, diaper, hat etc
• what your baby is eating eg. veggies, applesauce, puree etc
• where your baby is in the photo eg. Bath, Cot, Beach, Change Table, Outside, Pool, Playground etc
• the season or month of the year the photo was taken eg. Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer or January etc
• objects around your baby eg Autumn Leaves
• a special occasion eg. Baptism, Birthday, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Fourth of July etc
• children’s character(s)your baby is fond of eg. The Wiggles, Winnie the Pooh, Maisy, Bob the Builder, Thomas the Train Engine, Bananas in Pyjamas etc
• a baby keepsake eg. Birth Announcement, Hospital Bracelet
